About The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch
The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch spreads out in the Salinas Valley of Monterey County, California. This formerly exclusively private facility began welcoming tee times from public players several years ago and it has earned plaudits ever since for being a fun, well-conditioned layout with a quick pace of play and a much more inviting green fee than other courses in the area. Variety and elevation changes spell fun during a round at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch. The two nines exhibit different characteristics. The front is hillier and it plays tighter than the back. Elevation changes can be precipitous. There s no better example at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch than the tee shot on the 5th hole, an exhilarating, big-drop par 3. By the time you finish the front side, the playing field shifts to parkland style with more tree-lined fairways. Though the terrain is gentler on the back nine, you ll still notice that very little is flat at The Club at Crazy Horse. This holds true for the small greens as well. Chances are your putts will not be straight. The greens are considered one of the strong suits of the layout. Like the entire course, the putting surfaces are maintained to a high standard. Practice facilities include a grass driving range, chipping area with bunkers, and a putting green that provides a close approximation of what you ll encounter during your round. After you round, the club s Saddle Club Restaurant makes for a pleasant 19th hole. Though The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch has retained some of the feel of a private club because of its devoted membership, the atmosphere here is welcoming and laidback. The club prides itself on being the friendliest in Monterey County. A stop at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch either on your way to or coming from the more formidable (and expensive) courses of the Monterey Peninsula can be an ideal option for a warm-up or wind-down round. It s also simply a fun course to play at any time.
